The underwater museum is opened to visitors in February.

"Zhangye Danxia ”, China

A sight like in a painting: The colored striped mountains of "Zhangye Danxia" in the Chinese province of Guangdong appear as if painted and simply magical. The red sandstone and mineral rock formations are the reason the area is also called "china red rock garden" referred to as. Even if its patterns and formations are the result of natural erosion, they still appear supernatural to their viewers. Colorful valleys, natural bridges, waterfalls, stone pillars and towers alternate.

The "Valley of the moon" Argentina

Circular stone formations on sandy ground — this place seems out of this world. More like supernatural. The barren landscape of "Valley of the moon" ("Valle de la Luna" or "Parque Natural Provincial Ischigualsto") actually appears as from another celestial body. It is therefore not surprising that the region is known for numerous fossil finds — this is where dinosaurs lived and left their mark millions of years ago. Vacationers can explore the area by car in the company of a licensed guide.

"Kjeragbolten" Norway

A funny freak of nature and a bizarre sight: The "Kjeragbolten" right on the Lysefjord. A boulder that is wedged between two rocks. It is not the result of extraterrestrial architecture, but a holdover from the Ice Age. The monolith is mangled at a height of around 1000 meters above the fjord — and is a popular photo object. However, if you want to photograph yourself on it, you should have a head for heights. Because already the way to the highlight of the "Kjerag" has it all and is one of the more demanding hiking tours. So a certain basic fitness should be available. It is best to set out in dry conditions in summer.

At the end of February, the Canary Island of Lanzarote has another attraction. Then in the sea off the southwest coast of the island with the Museo Atlantico opens — according to the artist — "first underwater museum in Europe". The first sculptures have already been sunk. See the eerily beautiful works of art in our photo show.

The underwater museum will be open to visitors on February 25th. Thanks to the clear water, snorkelers can also look at the figures 14 meters below the surface, and divers come closer. There will also be excursions with glass-bottom boats. The figures by the artist Jason deCaires Taylors stand on 400 square meters in the seabed in front of Las Coloradas beach near the town of Playa Blanca in the southwest of the island.

The exhibition on the Canary Island is said to have more than 300 figures at the end. At the beginning there are already six installations to marvel at. At "El Rubicón" A group of 35 people seem to be walking towards a common goal. The "Balsa de Lampedusa" shows a rubber dinghy with refugees, the arrangement of the people is based on a 200 year old painting by the artist Théodore Géricault. The other installations address the importance of social media or show one "garden" from human-cactus hybrid beings.

Concrete figures as an artificial reef

As in the other underwater exhibitions of deCaires Taylor, the concrete figures serve as an artificial reef on which animal and plant species settle. However, since the water of the Atlantic is cooler, there will not be such abundant coral growth as, for example, at the underwater museum off Cancun.

Off the Mexican coast, visitors have long been able to marvel at fascinating underwater sculptures. The artist also installed his concrete sculptures off Grenada and the Bahamas. The museum in Lanzarote, however, is his first major work outside of the Caribbean.

We, the travel editorial team at t-online.de, will find the vacation you want: whether it’s a city trip, beach vacation or active vacation.

Marina wrote us:

"It’s great that there is such a thing. We would like to travel from May / June 2015 for 14 days, two people, theme bathing and relaxing vacation. So far we’ve been in Egypt because of the weather and the short flight, but it’s too dangerous for us at the moment. Do you have an alternative? The price budget for two people would be a maximum of 3000 euros. Greetings, Marina"

Dear Marina,

It shouldn’t be too long a flight into the warm and if you want the perfect bathing holiday, there should probably be a spacious pool area and a great beach in close proximity to the hotel. Let me think…

Travel suggestion 1: Bathing in Lanzarote

The hotel pool "Hipotels La Geria". (Source: Holidaycheck)

The hotel "Hipotels La Geria" on Lanzarote is located near the town of Puerto del Carmen and can boast four stars, a large pool and the proximity to the beach. Holidaycheck users rave about great walks on the beach and lots of free loungers. A former guest writes: "The complex is beautiful, the rooms too, everything was very clean."

I found the cheapest offer at the tour operator Air Marin. Here it goes on June 2nd from Munich to Arrecife and back on June 16th with a stopover. With half board, the 14 days without transfer cost a total of 1512 euros for two people.

Travel suggestion 2: Pool and beach fun in Cape Verde

Cape Verde also offers endless beaches and is actually not that far away. On the island of Sal is the very well rated "Club Hotel Riu Garopa" (four stars). "If you are looking for peace and quiet, you can find it on the spacious beach" writes a former hotel guest on Holidaycheck. There are no great shopping opportunities on the Cape Verde island, but the almost desert-like landscape allows stressed holiday guests to relax quickly. The pool is also fantastic and with its pool bar provides quick refreshment.

Both the Tap Portugal and TUIfly fly to the island of Sal. However, you should make sure that you do not spend five hours unnecessarily in Lisbon and wait for the onward flight. A good offer that I found is with the Tuifly on June 12th from Munich with a stopover that lasts less than an hour on the neighboring island of Boa Vista. The return flight will then go non-stop to Munich on June 26th. On the TUIfly website, the hotel can also be conveniently booked through the tour operator L’tur. With all-inclusive meals and a train ride to the flight, the holiday costs a total of 2650 euros for two people.

Travel suggestion 3: Orient but not Egypt — Abu Dhabi

Still orient and warm, but without any unrest — this is what the United Arab Emirates offer. This is a very well-rated hotel at Holidaycheck "Hotel Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana" /five stars). A former visitor writes: "Wonderful hotel with a friendly, luxurious but not too over-the-top atmosphere, with very good food (breakfast and half board including simple, non-alcoholic drinks), a wonderful, very large pool with plenty of loungers and parasols, and a small hotel beach (around 50 meters long) included Loungers and umbrellas."

We found the cheapest offer at FTI. Here, 14 days including flight, transfer, German tour guide and half board cost a total of 2218 euros.

We hope there was something suitable for you — if you actually decide on a suggested holiday destination, we look real indian brides forward to your feedback!

Mallorca is very popular with German holidaymakers, that’s no secret. The nickname "the Germans’ favorite island" is no accident. Europe’s bathing islands are also popular elsewhere. This is the result of an evaluation by weg.de. The online travel agency has evaluated the bookings made over the past ten years. The result are the ten most popular travel destinations for Germans, which we also present to you in our photo show.

All destinations are by the sea, seven of which are islands. Sun, beach and pleasant bathing temperatures: these ingredients are therefore part of a successful holiday cocktail. The following destinations made it into the top ten:

First place: Mallorca — perfectly happy on the dream island of the Germans

If you only think of Ballermann and sangria buckets when you think of Mallorca, then the Balearic Island is wrong. Picturesque bays, miles of beaches and an enchanting hinterland offer a wide holiday program. Vacationers benefit from the growing tourist offer, which ranges from large chain hotels to small fincas, and the very extensive range of inexpensive package tours.

Second place: Turkey — a versatile holiday destination with an oriental flair

In second place is Turkey. The country has long since established itself as one of the Germans’ absolute favorite destinations with its hospitality and infrastructure that is perfectly tailored to the needs of holidaymakers. With the lively metropolis of Istanbul, hot party cities like Bodrum and, above all, a multitude of popular seaside resorts like Antalya, Belek, Side and Kemer on the Turkish Riviera, Turkey offers the best conditions.

Third place: Egypt — paradise for water sports enthusiasts and those interested in culture

Egypt has been in a period of upheaval since the January Revolution of 2011. There are repeated terrorist attacks. The consequence of this is a decline in bookings. In the ten-year evaluation by weg.de, the country on the Nile still comes in third place. Which shows how popular the country has always been. After all, it has a lot to offer — cultural treasures such as the pyramids or wonderful diving spots. The year-round bathing temperatures are also a big plus.

Fourth place: Fuerteventura — holidays with wind and waves

A paradise for surfers and outdoor sports enthusiasts of all kinds, so Fuerteventura is stored in the minds of many vacationers. But the Canary Island can do a lot more. The volcanic island has been declared a biosphere reserve and, with its extensive dune landscapes and lava fields, also offers an impressive scenery for nature lovers. In the weg.de evaluation, the island landed in fourth place among the most popular travel destinations. Thanks to its mild temperatures, Fuerteventura has always been a popular winter destination.

Fifth place: Gran Canaria — dunes as far as the eye can see

Another Canary Island is also very popular with Germans. Extensive dune landscapes such as the famous Maspalomas and extensive beaches — Gran Canaria guarantees with its around 60 kilometers "Playas" the right place for every beach holidaymaker to spread out his towel.
